An employee is leaving, could it be down to boredom?

The HR Blog

Yes, it could be if the employee feels what they are doing is meaningless.  Employees need a sense of purpose; they need to know what they are doing is contributing towards the team and company’s goals.  Younger employees tend to be concerned about this.

If an employee is proud of what they are doing it increases their level of engagement and commitment. Think back to when someone included you in a project, you were given a specific role and responsibilities.  You pulled together for a common goal and deadline; how did it feel?

So how do you do this?  Well talk to your employees, explain the company goals, how they cascade to the team and to them individually.  Update them on how it is all progressing, give them deadlines and goals.  This isn’t a once a year conversation it is a regular updating, but don’t micromanage, remember you are giving them responsibility.

If you share your passion, they will become passionate too.
