Appraisals, do you find them daunting?

The HR Blog

These happen usually annually and are really a summary of the one to one’s.  Both parties should plan for the meeting, and it should not be just one person talking throughout the meeting.  There should be no surprises, issues raised that have not been communicated before.  The employee should complete their form and pass it over to the manager in plenty of time for them to prepare, at least a week.  This will allow the manager to research and respond to anything the employee has raised.

Any career aspirations, training requests, secondments or suggestions should be raised in the appraisal.

Remember, any actions or objectives should be carried over into the one to one’s, keeping it as a living document, bring the form to the meetings.

Do you have a form?  If not contact us and we can help you or provide training for appraisals, it does not have to be daunting
