Have you allowed your employees to carry over their holiday? What next?

You need to ensure they take these days in a specific time frame or lose them. Otherwise, you will find your employees building up more holiday each year and carrying them over.

Unless it is in the contract an employee doesn’t have a legal right to carry them over, it is good to cap the number and when they are taken by.  Remember to communicate this clearly to your employees.  You could email them and ask them to confirm they agree. If you don’t have an HR Portal set up to automatically cancel these days, you need to diarise this.

Ultimately you really want your employees to be taking their holiday through the year and should do what you can to encourage this.  If employees to use their full annual leave.
