Have you considered a secondment?

If you are looking for another way to train your employees without a large training budget, have you considered secondments?   This is when an employee works in the department for a specific time.  It is like a graduate scheme where they move around departments to learn about the business.  It is about sharing knowledge, improving communication and relationships within the company which is a great benefit.

Your company maybe small so you may want to consider if your employee and the company would benefit working on a supplier or main contractor site.  The employee would be able to network and improve communication between them both, become the preferred supplier.

It is often beneficial to see the processes and frustrations from the other side.  We all know how barriers can build up due to lack of understanding.
