How are you getting on with your year end focus?

The HR Blog

Last week we talked about working with your team to achieve their objectives before the end of the year.  The last action we suggested was for you to arrange a follow up meeting to see how the plan is working.  Have you done this?

So, should you be meeting with them regularly to see how they are progressing?  Yes, you should, hopefully you are having one to ones so this can be included in the agenda, but what would be good is for them to update you regularly, the action is with them and not for you to schedule lots of meetings.  We all know that meetings take up time in everyone’s diary and they can go off agenda if you are not careful.  There is nothing more daunting than seeing your diary filled up with meetings all day, so what is the answer?

Decide what is the most efficient way for them to update you.  It could be in the one to one or you may create a report that should be emailed to you weekly or a document in a shared drive that you can both access.  That way you can give it your complete focus rather than be distracted by something or someone else.

You should not over complicate the process so it will not be too daunting, or a huge thing added to their to do list.
