This month we have focused on communication saying it is good practise to keep in regular contact with employees and take time out to thank them. Here are some recommendations on how to do manage communication
- A long-term sick person may appreciate a call once of a month, it would help you keep them engaged with the company.
- With furloughed employees is maybe an email the last week of the month giving them an update on status.
- Those furloughed on a rota basis a call would be a good way to update them explaining the workload
- Someone on maternity may just want a monthly email and to be left alone, but some like to be engaged and would appreciate a call.
- Those working from home need to have regular contact so a call each day and a conference call with the team.
- Those still at work need to be assured why they are still working and the measures you have put in place for their welfare, as well as thanking them for coming to work.
You should put them in your diary, as you would with all your meetings, so they are not missed or pushed down the to do list. Communication is key to keeping your employees engaged and maintain relationships.
