Job Descriptions, what else can it be used for?

It is such a versatile and under rated document, you can see why we have spent this month focusing on it.

Job Adverts: You have already worked out the areas of responsibilities are for the role, so you should take the key parts and use them for the job description. You may have to change the wordings so that everyone can relate to it.

Interview questions:   You can base the questions around the requirements of the role.  Remember before you ask the question, you need to know the answer you are looking for.

Performance Management: The job description can be used when performance managing the employee along with the KPI’s.  Keeping it up to date is key for this area.

Appraisals: It should be brought along to the appraisal to review to ensure it is current.  It may help you identify any training requirements or areas to expand

Succession planning: When you are looking at developing your employees you can look at the employees on the level above them and map out their development plan.
