When you are interviewing for a role, it is important that the person not only can do the job, but they are aligned with your company values and are a cultural fit. If you as a company put your client at the heart everything and the candidate is focused on margins, profit, then employing them probably won’t be a good choice.
The whole focus of the interview shouldn’t be about the values, but it is important that it is mentioned as it is part of the culture. If the company was to consider offering employees to be part of the company through share options, they would be effectively owning part of the company. To understand the employee’s values, you could ask them about a situation where they saw a colleague misuse company resources. Ask them how they handled the situation, it will help you gauge their abilities and where they see their responsibilities start and end. This is just one example but you can plan specific questions to see if they would fit in.
