It must be summer holiday time! Yes everyone is normally waiting for the kettle to boil to find there is a queue, suddenly there is half the workforce in the office, so great news no queuing.
Whilst the summer brings along lighter evenings and tans all round, the season is notoriously bad for business. This major slow-down is largely due to clients and customers taking time off work for their summer holidays or for childcare.
Rather than everyone slowing down it is time to focus on areas that you don’t normally have time for, but want to.
Boost your online presence
If your employees are going to be spending time idly browsing social media to decide whether the picture their friend has posted is of hot dogs or legs, why not put that to good use? Take the chance to connect with new people on your social platforms and revisit your online brand message.
Evaluate your systems & processes
Is there a process that all of your team do differently that you can implement a standardised procedure for? You’ll have the time to take a step back which will allow you to have a fresh perspective on the way that your team works.
Undertake an internal project
We’re all guilty of compiling a long to-do list only to repeatedly claim that we’ll come back to it another time. Well, now is that time. The midst of a summer quiet period is the perfect opportunity for you to pick up on all those tasks you’ve been putting off.
Lighten up your winter workload
Use this valuable downtime to be able to get on with your future workload. Think back to how swamped you were trying to get that thing done by Christmas last year, is there anything that you can do to give yourself a head start this time round?
Your summer quiet period doesn’t have to be a bad thing. All businesses need a bit of down time to allow you to refocus and as long as you know it’s coming you can factor in this quiet period into your business strategy for the rest of the year.
So now get planning on focusing on the last four months of the year.
If you need any help, remember, we are still here.
